The Health Policy Platform (HPP) is the European Commissions primary group for all EU health stakeholders. The meeting is attended by colleagues from the respective Ministries of Health for each Member State and also by the EU Commissioner and other high ranking EC staff members. This meeting plays an important role in INHWEs advocacy objectives and at the next meeting in Brussels on the 17th October 2019 we will present our application for one of the Thematic Networks for the 2020 cycle. INHWE Director, David Smith, and three other colleagues from INHWEs membership will attend the meeting and provide feedback to those interested. 

The meeting will start with the 2019 EU Health Award Ceremony will kick off the annual meeting with the Commissioner for Health and Food Safety, Vytenis Andriukaitis, who will be present to announce the winners of the three categories of the 2019 EU Health Award for cities, NGOs and schools seeking to prevent and reduce obesity in children and young people.  The afternoon session will be fully dedicated to stakeholders’ activities, such as discussions about current and future EU health priorities and presentations of the 2019 and 2020 Joint Statements. Several organisations from across Europe will present their annual position papers they have been working on in their 2019 Thematic Networks. Afterwards, it will be time to learn more about the six potential 2020 Joint Statements.
