The High Level Commission on Health Employment and Economic Growth was announced on 2 March 2016 by the United Nations Secretary-General. The Commission set itself an ambitious agenda to improve the lives of all, which included improved health and prosperity through the Sustainable Development Goals programme. The report highlights how rising global demand and need for health workers present significant challenges.

The “Working for Health and Growth: Investing in the Health Workforce” report took 6 months to produce and presents the case for greater and better investment in the health workforce. This Policy Brief focuses on three of the six recommendations within the report that are relevant for health workforce educators.
